Unique Interior showing Wooden Pillar

Lincoln Unitarian Chapel was built in 1725 when it became one of the first dissenting places of worship in Lincoln.

Its warm and friendly quality is encouraged by the mural on the north wall and its wooden pillars which until recently were thought to have been ships masts.

John Disney, ancestor of Walt Disney of Disneyland was a wealthy local merchant who hosted the original dissenting congregation in his house at St Peter at Gowts in 1672 until 1725 when the present Chapel was built.

Sadly, Disneys house was demolished in the 1960's but a piece of the mediaeval Gothic window is on display at the rear of the Chapel.
