Do we do anything else?
From time to time we have a ”guest evening” when a professional accordionist comes along to entertain us. In the last few years we’ve had some memorable performances from the likes of Alexander Korbakov, Pearl Fawcett Adriano, the immensely popular Harry Hussey and many other well-known faces on the accordion circuit.
For our December meeting we change the format and have a fully-catered Christmas Social. This has become so popular over the years that it is now a ticket-only evening with priority for tickets being given to Club members.
Sometimes, we are invited to send players to entertain outside the confines of the Club. A regular annual event is the Christmas Party for senior citizens organized by the Horncastle Rotary. If you’ve been to the Lincolnshire Co-operative’s Christmas Carol service in Lincoln cathedral in recent years you will have seen some of us providing the music as the congregation assembles.
Smaller groups play for other organizations or even for private parties.
There is no fee charged for these appearances, but donations are always acceptable. We pass all donations on to the Club’s nominated charity, the St. Barnabas Hospice. During our 2007/2008 season we donated more than £1200 to this most worthy cause.
