Lincolnshire Folk

Lincolnshire was one of the richest parts of England for the Victorian Edwardian folk song collectors and we have celebrated the work of Percy Grainger and local ‘peasant poet’ John Clare in our concerts and music sessions.

There are many other folk song and music sessions organised throughout our region. The best place to look for initial details is Peterborough & South Lincs Folk Diary.

Take a look, also, at the going's on at Spalding Folk Club in the South Holland Centre and their own song night. If you've got a spare hour, take a look at the archive section of their web site, you will see many familiar names.

Another great event is the Whittlesea Straw Bear in early January. Though a traditional Cambridgeshire festival of dance, Alan and Maggie along with many other sessions regulars are musicians and dancers perform and support this event.
